The Mecidiye Pavilion is the first modern style imperial stone structure that was built by the Bosphorus. It is older than the 19th century Ottoman palaces Dolmabahçe and Beylerbeyi. Following a six-year restoration, it was turned into a museum in 2016, after having been in public use,mostly as a hospital, for almost a century.

The beautiful Beylerbeyi Palace was built as a summer palace for the Ottoman dynasty. It was also used as a State Guest House. Among many European Royal guests who were hosted here, one of them was the protagonist of a love affair that did not deem religion and nationality as obstacles.
